On October 19, 2007, First Deepwater Vanco Signs Ukraine's Black Sea Agreement for the production Prykerchenska Agreement (PSA Sharing).
The signing of the Production Sharing Agreement gives Vanco the opportunity to explore and develop high potential Prykerchenska Block. Work immediately begin a detailed exploration program which will include an extensive 3D seismic survey in 2008 followed by deepwater drilling.
The area of PSA is located southeast of the Crimean peninsula, the block covers about 12,900 km2 Prykerchenska, about one third of the area's deepwater Ukraine with water depths ranging from 500 meters to over 2,000 meters. Exploration will focus on the High Tetyaev, with water depths greater 2,000 meters where Vanco has identified a series of large structures, and the deep Sudak Folded Belt where Vanco has identified numerous attractive prospects. Some prospectivity is also identified in the deep zone Andrusov high.
Prykerchenska license area contains about 32 leads and prospects which 7 are in the syn-rift sediments and the rest (25) are in the trend Sudak.
The PSA has a term of 30 years and will allow Vanco to begin exploration and possibly build production facilities.
For Ukraine, it is a method to resolve Ukraine's energy needs and could help the country achieve its target of producing 25 percent more gas over the next 20 years.
If exploration efforts are successful, development the project will require investments of more than $ 20 billion.
