Ocean Alternative Energy
Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) was conceived by the French engineer Jacques D'Arsonval 1881. However, at the time of this writing the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii is home to the only operating experimental OTEC plant on the face of the earth. OTEC is a potential source of alternative energy that must be funded and explored much more than it is today.
Obstacle to cross a large OTEC implementation on a broad level and practically useful is the cost. It is difficult to get costs down to a reasonable level because processes currently used to drive OTEC. Thermal energy is very clean burning and not add pollutants into the air. But as it would currently be implemented with our current technologies, OTEC plants would have the ability to disrupt and possibly damage the environment Local.
There are three kinds of OTEC.
"Closed Cycle OTEC" uses a low boiling point liquids such as, for example, propane to act as an intermediary fluid. The plant pumps the ETM warm seawater in the reaction chamber and boils the intermediate fluid. It results in the steam to push the fluid through the turbine engine, which generates electricity. The steam is then cooled by setting cold seawater.
Open Cycle OTEC "is not very different from closed cycling, except in the open cycle there is no intermediate fluid. The sea water itself is the turbine engine in this OTEC format. Warm sea the water on the surface of the ocean turns into a vapor at low pressure under the constraint of a vacuum. The low pressure vapor is released in a particular area and has the power to drive the turbine. To cool the steam and create desalinated water for human consumption, the cold waters of the ocean depths have been added to the steam after generated sufficient electricity.
"Hybrid Cycle OTEC" is really just a theory at this time. It seeks to describe how we could make maximum use of the thermal waters of the ocean. There are currently two sub-theories to the theory of hybrid bike. The first is to use a secure bicycle to generate electricity. This electricity is in turn used to create the necessary environment for cycling vacuum open. The second component is the integration of two open cyclings as the double the amount of desalinated, potable water is created with one open cycle.
In addition to being used to produce electricity a closed cycle plant can be used for ETM treatment chemicals. OTEC plants, both open cycling and close cycling variety, are also capable of being used for pumping cold water to the deep sea which can then be used for refrigeration and air conditioning. In addition, during the period of moderation in the sea water is around the plant, the enclosed are can be used for mariculture and aquaculture projects such as fish. It is clear that a range of products and services we can draw from this alternative energy source.
